Lens change

Another extraordinary session — and this time, a new set of eyes to see it through. Sean was cooperative in the way that only Sean can be — completely, effortlessly, as though generosity were simply part of his nature. And so I took a risk. I set aside the long focal length I had relied on for so many months and reached for the Canon 70-200 F2.8 — shorter, wider, closer to his world in a way I hadn't tried before. The difference was immediate and revelatory. Sean at this distance was a different proposition entirely — more grounded, more embedded in the scene around him, more real in a way that the compression of a long lens, beautiful as it is, cannot quite achieve. He gave me everything, as he always does. And the 70-200 gave me a version of him I had never seen before. After all this time, Sean still has new things to show me. I suspect he always will.
